Job Description

Pharmacy Technician - PRN position in the Pharmacy Unit at Lutheran Health Network - Lutheran Hospital

Previous Pharm Tech experience required

  • PRN - 1 shift every 2 weeks. Flexible schedule to meet your needs!
  • Hours can include 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift. Holiday and weekend rotation may be required

Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Pharmacy and/or Registered Pharmacists, the Pharmacy Technician will assist pharmacists in delivering safe and effective pharmaceutical care, manage medication distribution, and ensure the smooth operation of the pharmacy. The ideal candidate will be organized, efficient, and committed to providing excellent service to our healthcare team and patients.

Essential Functions

  • Medication Preparation: Assists in the preparation and dispensing of medications, including compounding, labeling, and verifying medication orders under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Inventory Management: Maintains accurate inventory levels by monitoring stock, ordering supplies, and conducting regular inventory audits to ensure the availability of medications and pharmacy supplies.
  • Patient Interaction: Provides excellent customer service by answering questions from patients and healthcare staff regarding medications and pharmacy services, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Record Keeping: Maintains accurate records of medication orders, dispensing activities, and inventory transactions in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Participates in quality assurance activities, including medication storage checks and compliance with safety standards, to promote safe medication practices.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensures that pharmacy equipment is functioning properly and assist in troubleshooting any issues that arise.
  • Collaboration: Works closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to facilitate effective communication and coordinate patient care.
  • Professional Development: Stays current with pharmacy practices and participate in ongoing training and educational opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years experience in Hospital Pharmacy preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrates computer skills, calculations, arithmetic, English, and grammar
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Licenses and Certifications

  • LPT - Licensed Pharmacy Tech State Pharmacy Technician Registration/Licensure required and
  • Certification under the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) preferred
